Small Signs. Smart Fixes.

Spring is here, the days are warming up, and the roads are getting busier. It’s a good time to deal with the small things that tend to get put off until later.

This month we’re looking at why a warning light should never simply be ignored (or cleared), a quick fix for windscreen chips, and a spare key service for your Porsche. We also look back at the 911 that put the turbocharger on the map.

Little things, caught early, keep the big bills away..

If There's a Light on Your Dash, It's There for a Reason

Your Porsche is constantly checking itself. When a warning light appears, it’s telling you something has moved outside its normal range, whether that’s a sensor reading, a misfire, an emissions value or a fluid level.

It’s tempting to hope the light will go away, or to ask for it to be cleared. But we can’t simply clear an engine warning light. If there’s a genuine problem, the light won’t go away until the problem is fixed. Clearing a code only hides the message; it doesn’t solve what caused it.

Left alone, a small fault can turn into much bigger damage, which is why the smartest move is to have it checked as soon as the light comes on. Our Electronic Diagnostic service connects directly to your Porsche using Porsche-specific equipment to read the fault codes and find out what’s really going on. The check takes about 30 minutes, and we ask for a little notice so we can make sure a technician is available.

Light on? Don’t wait for it to get worse. Get it checked.

Service Highlights: Fix It Early, Sorted Your Way.

Windscreen chip? We can fix that.

A small chip from a stone on the highway doesn’t always mean a new windscreen. Fixed early, a chip can often be repaired before it spreads into a crack, which saves you time and money. Left alone, heat, vibration and rough roads can make it worse.

We can repair chips up to about the size of a 10c coin. The chip is drilled and then filled with a special hardening gel, and the repair takes about an hour. The car needs to be cold and out of the sun for the

Need a spare key?
We can make one.

Losing your only key is the kind of problem that always picks the worst moment.

We can have spare keys made for your Porsche, so a lost or missing key doesn’t catch you out.

We make spare keys for the Cayenne, Macan, Panamera, Carrera, Boxster and Cayman (2011 to 2018), as well as older models such as the 356 and 911 (1960 through 1998).

From the Workshop Floor

On the lift this month: A Porsche 911 (991) GTS.

The 991 generation of the 911, built from 2011 to 2019, is still one of the most rewarding modern 911s to drive.

The GTS sits at the sweet spot of the range, sharper and more focused than a Carrera S but every bit as usable on the road.

With the wheels off, we can take a proper look at the brakes, suspension and everything else that normally sits out of sight, all of which plays a part in how your 911 feels on the road.

Every detail checked. Every component cared for.

Porsche Story of the Month

The 911 That Made Turbo Famous

In 1974, Porsche added a turbocharger to the 911 and created something new: the 911 Turbo.

Powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six and developed with racing in mind, it arrived with wide flared wheel arches and a distinctive rear spoiler that earned the nickname “whale tail”. It was fast, dramatic and demanding to drive.

More than fifty years later, the Turbo name is still one of the most celebrated in the 911 range, and it all started with one bold idea: more air, more power.

Important Reminder

There are no public holidays in October, so we’re open as usual.

Please note that Wednesday 4 November is a public holiday for the Local Government Elections, and RS Autosport will be closed on that day.

If your Porsche is due around then, we recommend booking early.
