RS Autosport December Newsletter

The countdown to the festive season has officially begun, and your Porsche deserves to finish the year as strong as it started.

Before the celebrations and road trips roll in, here’s your December check-in to keep things running at their best.

Thank you from RS Autosport

There are two sections in this newsletter. For the sensitive, politically correct readers, please only read Part 1.

Part 1

Dear Friends

What will you remember in 2030 about the year 2025?

It is our hope that 2025 will be remembered as a year in which you continued to value, enjoy, and take pride in your Porsche. As the year draws to a close, we encourage you – if you have not already done so – to take the opportunity to experience your vehicle once more. Every Porsche, from the iconic 356 to the modern 992, is distinctive and exceptional in its own right.

We extend our sincere appreciation to each and every one of you for your continued support over the past year. We wish you all a well-deserved break and a joyful, restful festive season.

Kind regards
Anton, Rob, and the rest of the RS Autosport Team

Part 2

Dear Friends and Others

(Beloved, you must not read further.)

What will you remember in the year 2030 about the year 2025?

What do you recall now from 2020? The year 2030 is as far away from us today as the day when Covid started in 2020.

As I reflect on 2025, there are many things to remember – two wars in the world and world leaders that can only be described as a disruptive force. Locally, our politicians are all trying to out-dumb one another. We do have the best rugby team in the world, but our country’s leaders are trying to punch way beyond our weight. Ideological thinking will never trump (pun intended) common sense, which, by the way, is never common. Being stupid will hurt.

I, for one, am gatvol of all of our political leaders – all of them. As I sit and watch another commission of enquiry, dialogue, or talk shop, I become more disillusioned, not only by the people who are being questioned, but at the same time by the people questioning them. It is a combination of arrogance, ignorance, and incompetence. I would like to highlight only one item, as this “issue” is being thrown around and we become numb to what or how much it actually is. We often hear of millions and billions being stolen, but how much is a billion?

How does one visualise one billion?

If a thief/crook/politician stole R1.00 every second from our first election in April 1994, you would still not have R1 billion. If you save R1.00 every second – or save R86 400 every day, or R2 628 288 every month – from 1994, you would still not have R1 billion. If a person saves R1.00 per second, it will take 31 years and 7 months to get to R1 billion.

If you saved R1.00 per day since the birth of Jesus Christ, you still would not have a million rand.

So, ponder this when you are relaxing this December: A World Bank report suggests that the overall cost of organised crime to the economy could be as high as R175 billion per year, based on a 2023 estimate.

What can you do about it? The official opposition in South Africa is the “Apathy party.” Go vote in any election. We currently deserve the leaders we have – we voted for them – but you can change that in 2026.

This is why you need a Porsche. You need to take your mind off some serious stuff. Life is too short to drive a boring car, and you are never too old to have a happy childhood.

Regards
Anton

Our Porsche Care Tip of the Month

GIVE YOUR TYRES A YEAR-END CHECK!

Your Porsche’s tyres do far more than keep you rolling – they’re the only four points connecting you to the road, influencing everything from grip and braking to comfort and stability. As holiday travel picks up and temperatures rise, now is the ideal moment to give them a closer look.

Tread check
When your tyre tread has worn down to the built-in wear bars (1.6 mm or less), replacement isn’t just recommended – it’s essential for safe braking and wet-weather grip. If the wear pattern looks uneven, that may hint at alignment, suspension, or inflation issues that need attention.

Tyre age matters too
Tread depth isn’t the whole story. Even tyres that look healthy can harden and lose performance over time. Most tyre manufacturers recommend replacement at 5–7 years, regardless of mileage. To check yours, look for the DOT code on the sidewall – the last four digits tell you the week and year the tyre was made.

Pressure makes all the difference
Set a reminder to check your pressures at least once a month (and always when the tyres are cold). Use your Porsche’s recommended pressures – not the maximum printed on the tyre. Proper inflation improves grip, braking, fuel efficiency, and overall ride quality.

At RS Autosport, we offer tyre inspections, model-appropriate rotation where applicable, alignment checks, replacement, and full setup adjustments to keep your Porsche performing safely, smoothly, and precisely as intended.

Important Reminder

As we head into the festive season, please note that RS Autosport will be closing on 19 December and reopening on 12 January.

If your Porsche is due for a service, inspection, or pre-holiday check, we encourage you to book as early as possible to secure your spot before we close.

From the entire RS Autosport team, we wish you a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable festive season. We look forward to welcoming you and your Porsche back in the new year!
